What readers are saying

Everything you could need on your healing journey!

This book has brought me so much comfort in my journey towards healing and mourning the loss of my body and what it’s able to do.

This poetry book is short but powerful. The author, D.L. Heather, turns her chronic suffering with endometriosis into Life Interrupted, which shares her journey since a teenager. It's a book about self-discovery and self-healing, and the poems feature raw and strong emotions without sugarcoating.

It's beautifully written, and it made you sad throughout the book. While reading this book, I feel this was just a small part of what the author experienced, and it certainly took courage for her to put her painful feelings into words and publish it. If you love self-exploration poetry and feminism works, this would be the pick for you!

The Sisterhood

I read this entire book at one time. I didn't intend to do this, but I couldn't put it down. This journey in poetic form is part of the sisterhood and extremely relatable. Thank you, D.L. Heather, for being a voice for those who have been silenced.

Such a powerful look into living with endometriosis or chronic pain!

Life Interrupted is a beautiful and raw look at what its like to live with endometriosis or live with chronic pain. As I read this book I felt like I was reading my years of pain and tears but also the strength I have in fighting every day. This book is so powerful for those suffering to know you are not alone but also for those who care about those with endo or chronic pain to truly know what its like for us. Such a wonderful book! I can't recommend it enough!

Everybody knows that most men underestimate women. But if any guy would read this beautiful poetry collection, I bet they would gain more respect for the strength all women carry. In this anthology, the talented author D.L. Heather sheds light on endometriosis, a debilitating disorder that affects an estimated 1 in 10 women. Throughout the informative and visceral pages, Heather boldly shares her story of suffering the disturbance and affliction of endometriosis. Heather refused to allow herself to play the victim despite undergoing such hardship and distress, but instead, she withstands and embraces the chaos and transmutes it into a blessing. Her warrior spirit radiates in each poem. I couldn't help but feel her frustration and sorrow, especially taking in how many times doctors and nurses dismissed her pain. But more importantly, I definitely couldn't ignore her outstanding resilience. In her own words, "no matter how hard / the wind tries to pull her back / down she finds the strength to / be / in the present... what is a young girl meant to do / when nobody takes her suffering seriously?". There are many reflective lines in this uplifting book. I applaud Heather's determination to get the message out there into the world, speaking on behalf of all the women suffering in silence. She's an absolute wordsmith! Powerfully evocative, forthright & illuminative, Life Interrupted is a must-read poetry collection. I can't wait for her third book to release!
