Up Close and Personal with Author Ashton Jeffers

Welcome to my blog! A new and exciting segment dedicated to introducing you to new and established authors and their books.

Today, I would like to welcome author Ashton Jeffers. Let’s get started.

What is your name and where are you from?

My name is Ashton Jeffers and I'm originally from Bridgeport, Ohio. I now live and breathe in the lovely state of South Carolina!

What was your childhood dream?

I had a lot of childhood dreams but didn't take up on them. I wanted to be a doctor and basketball player at one time. I didn't find my true dream of writing stories until the age of 28! I would draw and make comics when I was little, based off superheroes like Batman and Spiderman, but I never realized it as being my dream until way later!

When did you publish your first book? What was that like?

I officially published my first book on October 12, 2021. It's still one of the craziest feelings to have conquered such a feat. I'd say it was about 6 years in the making or so, as I started the world building and everything back in 2015. It's so wild to look back on where I started and how far I've come. I've got 5 other books written and just about ready to go, but I had to stop writing so I could actually start to publish them!

What’s the most difficult thing about being a writer? The most exciting thing?

I'd say the hardest thing about writing is what comes after you actually finish the book... MARKETING! I tell others that writing a book is the easiest part, it's figuring out how to get eyes on your pride and joy that's the toughest. The most exciting is being caught in the atmosphere of your world as you're writing, especially with some good music.

What genre do you write in, why? Tell us about your book.

My stories fall under fantasy/action genre because those are my favorite to read. My 1st book for the series is called Mekinsui Grace: Rebel War. It takes place in a near, future, dystopian Earth that is trying to rebuild itself after World War 3. There is a one world government that seeks total control of civilians and is close to doing that, but is being hindered by those speaking out against it, including a small cult of people known as the Apostles.

A new war is on the verge between the factions, but unbeknownst to them, their hearts are succumbing to an evil, supernatural entity that wants to bring ruin upon all of civilization. The only hope to stop this darkness and prevent another war falls onto the shoulders of a young man who must find courage and become a warrior of the Light in order to take on the dark.

What inspired you to write this book?

Honestly, my love for old school cartoons and Japanese animation. (Anime) I grew up on Saturday morning cartoons and then grew into Anime. Shows like He-Man, Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers, Dragonball, Naruto, and countless others inspired me to write my own stories that I hope to see on the television screen one day.

Why should people read your book?

If you like superhero movies and larger-than-life characters from your favorite shows and video games, then I think Mekinsui Grace will be another great story to add to your list. It's something different that I think others will find as a nice change up to a tried & true formula of action, fantasy, and adventure, that checks every box of epic stories!

What do you like most about writing?

I like the feelings and emotions you get from great moments in a story you escape into. Getting chills over your body when the underdog is on the verge of finally winning, or getting teary eyed over a sad scene never gets old.

Where can people find out more about you and your work?

Where can your book(s) be purchased?

At the moment, it can be exclusively picked up on Amazon, but I'm looking to use other outlets in the near future!

Ashton, it was a pleasure. Thank you!

Where do I start? 2021 was a total whirlwind. It's honestly hard to believe I published two books in the last year. Since that was the one thing I wanted to achieve, I never thought I could do it, esp
